As you are aware, thanks to the hard work of many LASARA members and the generous donations we've received from sponsors, the LASARA Command Centre will be put into operation very soon. In recognition of the $10,000 donation contributed to this project by Cargill, we are scheduled to attend their Customer Appreciation BBQ on Tuesday August 10th in Lethbridge. This event will be from 11am to 2pm. We are looking for voluneteers to work this day to show off the new LASARA Command Centre as well as casually answer questions from the public on what LASARA does and how SAR supports the community. This will be a great opportunity to improve public awareness on volunteer SAR activities, recruit new members. If you are available and interested, please contact Jassen Jackman (403.360.6405 or

June 6th & 7th
Our biggest fundraising event is quickly approaching and we're still in need of volunteers to help work the event. This casino has the potential to generate $20-30,000 for LASARA and will help us meet our funding goals for training and equipment for several years.
LASARA members are desperately needed to work as cashiers, chip runners, and bankers at the casino during the 2 day event (Sunday June 6th and Monday June 7, 2010). Work shifts are from 10:45am to 6pm and from 6pm to 2am each day. We need a minimum of 15 workers (we only have 11 volunteers so far). If you can devote time to the cause it would be greatly appreciated. Some paperwork needs to be completed in advance for security purposes. Please contact Kelly James (403.382.8853) to discuss job positions and your available hours. If you have not yet received your work assignment but previously completed paperwork, please contact Kelly ASAP. |
