Training
LASARA is actively recruiting new members and training new and existing members throughout the year. Training is an ongoing process, both to maintain our existing skills and to develop new skills. The training cycle generally starts each September and runs through the year. Training sessions are usually held after the monthy meetings. Additional training sessions are held at other times during the year.
LASARA requires that its members have completed two courses before they are able to attend actual searches. These courses are:
- Level 1 First Aid/CPR
- Search and Rescue Fundamentals
Specialized courses are offered by outside organizations allowing one to become part of specialized Search and Rescue Operators. Examples of these courses include:
- High angle rescue,
- Ice rescue, and
- Man tracking.
